Piazza Navona, which displays the genius of Bernini and Borromini, is one of the finest Baroque masterpieces in papal Rome.

The site for today’s square is built on the ancient Stadium of Domitian.

The magnificent church of Sant’Agnese in Agone was designed by Francesco Borromini, while Gian Lorenzo Bernini designed the famous “Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi” (fountain of the four rivers), right in front of the church.

The Altemps Palace, originally built by a Roman noble family, is built around a delightful courtyard decorated by a monumental fountain standing in the middle.

This magnificent palace hosts a really remarkable collection of antiquities from the classical world as well as from Egypt.

Trajan’s Market & Column

Situated on Via dei Fori Imperiali, Trajan's Market is an archaeological complex that currently holds the Museum of Imperial Forums (Museo dei Fori Imperiali). It is considered to be Rome’s first “shopping center”. The complex, made of red brick and concrete, had six levels in which there was once up to 150 different shops and apartment

The Trajan’s Column is a monument that was erected in 106–113 ce by the Roman emperor Trajan and survives intact in the ruins of Trajan’s Forum in Rome. The marble column is of the Roman Doric order, and it measures 125 feet (38 metres) high together with the pedestal, or base, which contains a chamber that served as Trajan’s tomb.

Christian Rome and the art of mosaic

 Accompanied walk and guided visit. The itinerary includes the visit of the mosaics of different churches.

You will visit the Papal major basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the largest Catholic Marian church in Rome. The mosaics found in Santa Maria Maggiore are one of the oldest representations of the Virgin Mary in Christian Late Antiquity (fifth century). Under the high altar of the basilica is the Crypt of the Nativity of ]esus Christ.

The walk will continue with the Santa Pudenziana Church, a basilica built in the 4th-century, that is dedicated to Saint Pudenziana, sister of Saint Praxedes and daughter of Saint Pudens. The church of Santa Pudenziana is recognized as the oldest place of Christian worship in Rome.

You will continue with the Basilica of Saint Praxedes and its famous Saint Zeno chapel.

An accompanied walk from Castel Sant’Angelo, way through Via dei Banchi Vecchi, Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Farnese and Piazzetta Mattei with explanation of the city. This tour will offer the opportunity to visit the Jewish Ghetto with its complex variety of history, architecture and tradition, ending with a typical dinner. The Jewish Ghetto is one of the most fascinating areas of Rome, one with the highest number of examples of Roman and Medieval architecture – out of the very few – that still stand in Rome.
